Real Wedding: Philippa and Michael

I got to know Philippa years ago when she was still a student.  At the time she was working for one of the staffing companies we used and we spent many weekends behind the scenes at other couples' special days.  Since then we lost contact but were facebook friends so the connection sort of remained. :-) It turns out Philippa moved to New York  and shortly after met the man of her dreams, Michael.    One day out of the blue I received a call from Anne, Philippa's amazing mom, requesting my services for the planning of the wedding.  I must be honest that I felt a little proud that they wanted to make use of me, considering that we worked together before.

Due to the time difference, Anne and I did most of the planning and boy did we have fun!  Today I can truly say that this wedding was more than just a job, it was a journey with a friend.

Philippa and Michael's wedding was hosted on a lovely warm January day at Holden Manz in Franschhoek.  Philippa and Michael is such an easy fun couple and their love is very evident when you are in their company.  I wish you guys all the best for the future and may your love go from strength to strength.

Catherine Mac was there on the day to capture all the prettiness.

Count Down to Christmas: 1

There is a buzz of excitement in the house today as tonight we have our special visitor arriving.  While the kids are all having their afternoon rest the adults are starting to sneak around with mysterious black bags and fiddling with stockings, all while we have the carols chanting in the background.  (A little bit of Frank is always welcome.)

I also don't have too much time for writing today as we are too busy with tomorrow's cooking preparations!   Off to make my special Tomato & Sweet Pepper Soup Starter.

I always love wrapping my gifts in a interesting way and of course they are always colour coordinated.  This year I spotted a three pack which was white, red and blue.  The colour was however not the reason why i wanted it...no, it was because one roll was a red and white chevron stripe.  I am besotted with chevron stripe patterns at the moment.

Regrettably,  my hubby made the mistake of using some of my favorite paper for his bosses gift and as a result we ran short for all our other gifts.  Needless to say he had to go back to the shop to go get us some more.  The problem however were that everyone else also seam to have a thing for chevron stripes at the moment.  He spent 30min searching from one side to the other of the shop and as he was just about to give up he found the last roll.  I'm so proud of him for finding it!  What an awesome hunter, but then again I know he is because he hunted me too. :-)

One of the things I leave for last minute every year is finding gift tags.  If you have left this part of your Christmas a little late, follow this link to some stunning free printable gift tags from Compulsive Craftiness.

My husband's family has this great tradition...  When a child is born into the family, or like in my case you marry into it,  they are given a hand beaded Christmas stocking complete with your own name.  The result, my husbands stocking is 34 years old and we still hang it up every year.  As an adult and new member of the Tyrie/Lazarevic's it was really a special welcoming into the family.

It may be a little late to start your handmade stockings, but there is always next year.
